Nothing is as Certain as Death and Taxes – Even Payroll Taxes for Domestic Help
By Ron Cassinelli, New England Domestic News

In the “they’ve-done-it-again” category comes news of a California judge whose career was just derailed because she did not pay taxes for her nanny.

Judge Glenda Sanders had the support of a bi-partisan panel for one of two openings on the U.S. District Court bench in Los Angeles but President Bush’s administration did not submit her name to the Senate for confirmation. The reason? She did not pay payroll taxes for the nanny who cared for her two children.

Sanders apparently believed she did not have to pay the taxes because she paid the nanny as a contract employee, according to news reports.

Do the names Zoe Baird or Kimba Wood ring a bell? They were President Clinton’s first two nominees for attorney general but their nominations died when revelations surfaced that they had not paid taxes for their domestic help.
